FORT GAY, W.Va. (WYMT/WSAZ) - In Fort Gay, the talk of the town is two drug busts in less than two weeks.
The latest bust happened Monday night at 3301 Court St.
"If they're doing it, we'll catch them," Officer Zach Thompson said. "We want people to know we're making the effort to rid this town of drugs."
The latest arrests are part of a cooperative effort between the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, Fort Gay Police and the Wayne Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
"Deputy Triplett was off duty and came out on his own," Wayne County Sheriff Greg Farley said. "He met with the officers in Fort Gay, initiated the interviews, which led to the statements and search warrants. I think we concluded that about three this morning."
Arrested were James Robertson, 46, and Steven Thompson, 43, both of Fort Gay.
Those arrests marked the second major drug bust in less than two weeks. On Saturday, Wayne County Sheriff's deputies arrested Randy Webb and Mark Finley on felony drug and meth charges.
Fort Gay Police Officer Anthony Thompson says cleaning up the streets needs the involvement of people who live in that small Wayne County town.
"Pick up the phone," Thompson said. "If you want us to get the crime off the street, we need to know who's doing it and what they're doing. Give us a call."
