Floyd and Knott County, Ky. (WYMT)-- Eastern Kentucky has been home to a string of burglaries and robberies at convenience stores in the past two weeks.
The most recent three occurred within two days. One happened at the Redi Mart in Lackey on Kentucky 550. A robbery at the Double Kwik on Kentucky 80 in Hindman.
The robber in both those robberies wore an orange hooded sweatshirt, clerks said.
"They're trying to see if these may be connected or interrelated with the same perpetrators or individuals involved," said Tpr. Jody Sims of Kentucky State Police.
Other recent thefts happened in Knox, Laurel, Whitley, and Boyd Counties.
Drug addiction could be a root cause, Sims said.
"The subjects are faced with addiction issues and sometimes turn to these acts in order to supply their need and demand," Sims said.
