INEZ, Ky (WYMT) - The Martin County Sheriff's Office is investigating after they say around ten vehicles were broken into Friday morning in Inez.

One victim was John Washburn who said someone broke a window in the car in his driveway and stole his wife's purse.

"I do protect my property, but sometimes you just don't hear it. And I don't know how we didn't hear that last night, that had to be loud," said Washburn.

But, Washburn was not the only victim. The Martin County Sheriff says around ten cars were broken into early Friday morning in about a one mile stretch around the City of Inez.

Sheriff Garmon Preece says her believes one person is responsible for all the break-ins.

His department has some leads, but they are still asking for more information.

The sheriff suggests people take all their valuable items out of their cars at night.

He says parking your car in well lit area is also a good way to prevent break-ins.
