Police investigating double shooting in Lee County, VA

LEE COUNTY, Va. (WYMT/WJHL) - Virginia State Police and the Lee County Sheriff's Office are investigating two related shootings that occurred in Lee County Tuesday afternoon.

Two men and a woman were in a wooded area approximately two to three miles from Lee County High School.

That's when police say, around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, one man shot the other man.

Then, reports state the man fled and was spotted by the Lee County Sheriff's Office about 15 minutes later. He was stopped in the parking lot of Lee County High School. As the deputies approached the vehicle, the driver took his own life and died at the scene.

The man who was shot in the woods was transported by ambulance to Lee Regional Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.

The woman was not injured in the incident.

At this stage of the investigation, it has been determined that the shootings had no connection to the high school.

The names of those involved, including the deceased, and additional information will be released Wednesday. The Virginia State Police are currently investigating the shooting.
