FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - There have been three robberies in one county in less than one week, and folks believe the same person is behind all of them.
In all three cases, a man matching the same description came in demanding money and left on foot, and it is his weapon of choice that folks at the stores say ties him to all three.
Video from Newman's Shop A Lot in Harold shows a man enter the business Wednesday night and shove a large stick into the clerk's back forcing her behind the counter.
Just after midnight Sunday folks at the Cardinal Country Mart in Stanville say the same thing happened to them.
Then Sunday night it was an all too familiar scene at the VIP Fuel store in Grethel.
Now police are asking for help.
"Anybody out in the public that's got information on this can call the State Police post here in Pikeville. They can remain anonymous. We're not interested in who calls the information in we're just interested in finding the party involved in these robberies," said Trooper Shaun Little.
No one in any of the stores was hurt, but their stories are all the same: a man six feet tall, wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, blue gloves and his face covered ran in took cash from the registers and left on foot.
Troopers say with this many robberies stores need to keep a close eye on what is going on around them.
"If they think something is suspicious they can contacts us. Troopers don't have a problem with coming and making sure that the business is safe," said Trooper Little.
Anyone with information should contact Kentucky State Police.
Troopers who are patrolling those areas are stopping periodically at the stores trying to keep anything like that from happening again and are asking all of them to be on the lookout.
