Police make disturbing discovery in home near meth lab

Posted: Mon 11:49 PM, Oct 01, 2012

What started out as a routine check by parole officers turned into a disturbing discovery in Clay County.

Police were called to a home near the Oneida community of Clay County around four on Monday afternoon on a drug complaint and quickly discovered a one step meth lab in a nearby barn.

But when officials with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office went to search the home nearby the barn, they found a man with special needs all alone.

Police say the man had been without food or proper days for several days.

“The individuals that were on probation or parole were supposed to be taking care of a special needs adult. After we gained entrance into the residence to see if anybody was there is when we found the special needs adult who apparently has had nothing to eat in a couple days,” said Clay County Sheriff Kevin Johnson.

Officials with the Clay County Sheriff's office took the man to Manchester Memorial hospital and will turn him over to social services when he is released.

No arrests have been made.
