CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - Police said one man told them he was lured to a motel in Corbin where he was robbed and beaten.

Corbin police said Wesley Varga told them he was meeting three people at the Mountain View Lodge.

Police said Varga told them he planned to discuss renting a home when the suspects jumped him and stole money from him. They said Varga told them he had $1,000 in cash stolen, but they said they recovered just more than $800.

Loren Fox of Gray, Christopher Surgener of Barbourville and Christopher Moore of Corbin were arrested and charged with second degree robbery.

Police said they had an unusual hiding place for the alleged stolen money.

“She had it stuffed inside her underwear when officers got up there and got them out of the woods and brought them down here to question them and started the actual arrest and the search,” said Major Robert Jones of the Corbin Police Department.
“That's when they gave up the money.”

The three suspects entered not guilty pleas in Whitley County District Court on Tuesday and are expected to be in circuit court next week.

Each are being held at the Whitley County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.

Police said the case is still under investigation.
