Police say thief injured elderly woman

MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WYMT) - Middlesboro Police say a grocery store thief injured an elderly woman trying to get away.

Police say Patrick Sullivan, 35, of Harrogate, Tennessee was stealing lithium batteries from Kroger's on Monday.

Police say when he ran out of the store, he pushed an elderly lady to the ground.

Officers caught him in the back of a pick-up truck not far from the store.

"After we got to the store, we talked to loss prevention and the manager there. Manager stated he had pushed him in an attempt to get away and also he had run over an elderly lady on the way out the door," said Lt. David Buis.

Police say the woman went to Middlesboro ARH with minor injuries to her arm and hip.

Sullivan is charged with second-degree robbery.
