BOOKER FORK, Ky. (WYMT) - A Pike County man is recovering following a weekend shooting.

Police say it happened early Saturday morning in the Booker Fork community.

Family members tell Mountain News Kelly Bentley was taken to Pikeville Medical Center following the incident.

Officials at the hospital tell us Bentley is in critical condition.

Neighbors we talked to say they didn’t know much about the shooting, except that it happened to a good person.

A neighbor of Bentley said she heard the news from a friend.

“Asked me did I know anybody that had been shot on Booker Fork and I said no but I will find out, and I found out it was Kelly,” said Margie Robinson.

“I hate to hear that it happened to anyone, but especially someone like him. You know, he tries to save lives like you said, and it's just heart breaking,” said family friend, Nicki Rippy.

Police are not releasing much information about the shooting, but confirm they are still searching for the shooter.
