HINDMAN, Ky (WYMT) - Police are investigating after a woman says she was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday morning in Knott County.
Located right off Highway 80 in Knott County and surrounded by several businesses, the owner of the Ameri-Cash in Hindman says she never expected this.
Owner Rita Daniels recounts what the employee on duty experienced, "She came back down and there was a man standing at the front door. She went over to the door and unlocked it and asked if he needed any help, and he said he needed to get some cash."
But he was not just another customer. The employee working at the time said when he walked in he had a gun a demanded all the money.
The owner now says she is adding a new security system.
"We're going to really up the security because we want them to have access to help immediately if this happens again," said Daniels.
Police are hoping nearby security cameras can help identify the suspect.
"To see where this individual went whether he got in a car and maybe get a description," said Tony Watts with Kentucky State Police.
The employee says the man told her people were watching and to sit in a chair and count to 100. That's when he walked out of the business toward a nearby pharmacy.
Anyone with information should call state police.
Police describe the suspect as a white man around 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 275 to 300 pounds. He was dressed in a dark zip up hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans.
