Police searching for suspect following overnight shooting in Viper

VIPER, Ky. (WYMT) - Police say a Perry County man is expected to survive after being shot multiple times.

There are no arrests yet in the early morning shooting in Viper.

Police say someone fired shots into a home, striking the man inside.

Police say 2:00 Wednesday morning, gunshots rang out at a home in Dusty Road.

Police say 38 year old Johnny Clark was inside his home when suddenly someone shot through the door.
"It actually came from the outside in, and he was struck while he was in his residence," said Trooper Tony Watts, Kentucky State Police.

Police say Clark was shot several times. He went to U-K Medical Center and officials say he has non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are now trying to identify the shooter.

"Obviously Mr. Clark was targeted because they obviously shot inside his residence," said Trooper Watts.

Police have not determined a motive as to why Clark was targeted.

"The detectives that are investigating are in the process of interviewing, talking to possible witnesses and things like that, so we're still in very early stages of the investigation," Trooper Watts said.

Investigators do believe this was isolated and believe neighbors are safe while the suspect is loose.

"I don't think there's anything that appears to be that any of the neighbors or anyone should be concerned about," said Trooper Watts.

Police ask anyone with information on the shooting to come forward. If you have information on the suspect or shooting, call Kentucky State Police in Hazard.
