Posted: Mon 5:06 PM, Dec 03, 2012

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Officials with the Barbourville Police Department say a new type of identity theft may have made its way into eastern Kentucky.

The times-tribune reports that there have been recent reports of card skimmers at gas stations and banks in our region.

Skimmers are small readers that capture information on credit or debit cards when they are swiped through card readers.

If a card swiper appears to be tampered with, be sure to notify a store employee or police.
