Officers from both Kentucky State Police and the Letcher County Sheriff's Department worked together to arrest Jeffery Maggard of Tennessee for trafficking drugs.

"Myself and Trooper Brandon Thomas with the Kentucky State Police did what we call a knock and talk. It's pretty much, we just get information without any probable cause. We just go and ask permission based off the complaints we get to either search the residence or something of that nature," said Sgt. Brian Damron.

It was that cooperation and technique that led police to making the arrest.
Thousands of dollars worth of prescription medication and marijuana as well as several thousand in cash were recovered from Maggard's Jenkins apartment.
But that's not all authorities accomplished.

"Our HIDTA detective made contact with a representative from the Kingsport area, or the Tennessee area, that community. They subsequently did a search warrant based off of our investigation which led to a similar take as far as controlled substances," said Damron.

Damron says it all started with the arrest made in Jenkins and says both investigations could lead to even more arrests in Texas.
