Police in Laurel County are investigating an attempted burglary in Laurel County where the victim shot the alleged burglar.
It happened Saturday night on Joe Hooker lane.
Laurel County Sheriff John Root says apparently Jeffrey Wade Hooker was watching his brother's property when he noticed a man had the screen door to his brother's house open, and he was getting ready to kick the door in.
The suspect tried to run away, and Hooker chased him.
The suspect turned around with a pistol, so Hooker shot one round toward the suspects foot to try and wound him.
The suspect ran over the hill and into the woods.
Investigators found blood drops leading into the woods, but they have not located the suspect.
They do not know the suspect's identity, and the only description is a white male around 5'11".
The incident is still under investigation.
