Somerset police arrested a Somerset man Thursday evening when he was found to be involved in a theft.
The incident began at 8:53 PM when Sgt. Mike Correll was dispatched to Pulaski Street to a report of guy wires being cut from utility poles in the area. Residents were able to provide a clothing description of a man they saw cut the guy wires.
Soon afterwards, Officer Scott Whitaker was flagged down by a resident near Harvey Street and Adams Street who pointed to a man matching the description walking north near Pizza Hut. When officer Whitaker approached the man, he fled on foot but not before dropping a bag containing wire.
Pulaski County Deputy Sheriff Josh Whitis was in the area and responded with his K9. Deputy Whitis and Officer Brooks Barleston tracked the suspect to the Citizens' Bank Elrod Branch where he was found hiding in some bushes.
Justin D. Hull, age 26, of West Columbia Street, was charged with Receiving Stolen Property U/$10000 and Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree. He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
