Police arrest man suspected of catalytic converter thefts

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office arrested a Knox County man who they believe is responsible for a recent series of catalytic converters thefts.

Friday afternoon, police say a woman who works at the London Walmart noticed two men next to her car in the parking lot.

She saw one man jacking up the car, and the other was under it cutting the catalytic converter.

The two left the scene, but police tracked the vehicle to Knox County where they pulled the car over.

James A. Helton was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking from a car.

More arrests are expected.
