Police in Laurel County arrested two people in connection with a crime spree.
Police say these two have been terrorizing the community for weeks breaking into several homes and even robbing a local store twice.
Ott's General Store has never been robbed since it opened in 1878, but that all changed a few weeks ago.
The store located just outside of London was robbed at gunpoint, and then ten days later someone broke into the glass and stole some cigarettes.
Owner Rick Ott says this is uncommon for his friendly general store.
"I had a lot of folks come in, and they like to talk. It's a general store here, and they sit on our front porch and talk," said Ott.
Then, on Monday a home just across the street from Ott's General Store was robbed. Neighbors wrote down the suspects license plate number before they drove away. Police later found that car in flames in nearby Rockcastle County.
A search of the suspects' home would connect the two to the robbery and burglary of Ott's General Store.
Joshua Westerfield and Natalee Wood were arrested and charged with several counts of burglary and robbery
Police say they were arrested just in time.
"The situation would have escalated, and someone would have got hurt, so we feel good that the bad guys are in jail," said Gilbert Acciardo with the Laurel County Sheriff's Office.
As for Rick Ott, he hopes now that the two are in jail, this will be the first and only time he will have to deal with anything like this.
Police say they are expecting to file more charges against the two. They believe they are connected to more robberies in the area.
