A Letcher County jail escapee Byron Bentley has been caught by police.

The Letcher County Sheriff's Department received an anonymous call saying Bentley was leaving Virginia and was on his way into Kentucky in a maroon Grand Am.

Officials say the Jenkins Police Chief spotted the vehicle and pulled him over.

Bentley is now back behind bars in the Letcher County Jail.

He escaped more than a week ago after an elevator stopped in the wrong place in the courthouse.
