Police honor man who led them to Lee Harvey Oswald

DALLAS (AP) - Dallas police have honored a man who led them to a
movie theater where Lee Harvey Oswald was hiding on Nov. 22, 1963,
shortly after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Police Chief David Brown presented Johnny Calvin Brewer with a
Citizen's Certificate of Merit on Tuesday at the Texas Theatre,
where Oswald was captured. Brewer said he was overwhelmed by the
honor.
He was working at a store nearby when he heard about the
shooting. He saw a man acting strangely, followed him into the
theater, helped search the theater and stood by the exits until
police arrived.
Brown speculated that the tribute did not occur sooner because
some details were lost as Dallas tried to move away from the
tragedy. Brown said he's trying to rectify that.
