Kentucky State Police are conducting a death investigation after a one-month old boy was found unresponsive in his home.
According to Laurel County Coroner, Doug Bowling, the mother of the infant called for an ambulance after the boy was found unresponsive.
The baby was then transported from the home on Clark Lane in the Lily community to St. Joseph's hospital in London. The baby was pronounced dead just after 12 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
Kentucky State Police detectives have been in and out of the home collecting evidence.
The infant's body was taken to Frankfort for an autopsy.
The investigation is continuing.
Neighbors say learning about the infant's death is just heart breaking.
"It's just so sad. I don't know what not say. I don't know what to say. Honest to God, I don't know what to say. It's just so sad. It's. I've been in the Marine Corps. No matter what you do, nothing can replace the life of a, not a child. It just makes me so sad," says Glenn Hinkle, a neighbor.
