Police are warning people in Johnson County about a possible scam involving magazine subscriptions.
Sheriff's deputies say solicitors claiming to be in college and from the area were going door-to-door in several neighborhoods. They say the solicitors are selling subscriptions for American Circulation Enterprise, which has an address in Indiana.
When confronted by police, they claimed they were not actually in college, and not from the area.
One deputy says the department is investigating some complaints that items were stolen from homes during visits.
"They're trying to get in the house and pretty much scope it out is what the victims are stating to us. Looking at their medications and pretty much making them feel uncomfortable at that point," said Sheriff's Deputy Chad Penix.
So far, no one has been arrested in connection with the possible scam.
