Police look for ways to improve deadly curve

Police in Barbourville are looking for ways to improve a dangerous section of roadway that claimed another life.

34-year-old Robert Tyree of London was killed on a stretch of Kentucky 11 South when his pickup truck ran off the road.

Authorities say the curve has become notorious for the amount of fatal collisions that occur on it.

“That particular curve is probably the most dangerous piece of roadway we have in the city. It's a location that, when almost each time it rains, we know we'll be responding to some type of collision or accident there,” Detective Steve Owens said.

Police say most accidents occur when people drive into the curve too quickly and lose control or cross the center line.
