Pikeville Police returned to the scene of a deadly wreck on Wednesday to determine what caused the crash.

Accident reconstructionists shut down U.S. 23 southbound in front of the Northpoint Academy while they re-created the crash.

On Wednesday afternoon, police say 22 year old Brandon Boyd of Teaberry hit another car head on.

Boyd died in the crash and the other driver, Angie Casey, was seriously injured.

“The reason we're out here today is to figure out why the collision happened and what events took place to cause the collision. Preliminary investigation shows a blue Monte Carlo that was travelling northbound on U.S. 23 crossed the southbound lanes and struck a jeep,” Officer Bruce Collins said.

Police say no one is facing any charges.

Officials say Casey is still in Pikeville Medical Center.
