Police say one of the suspects distracted the clerk while the other allegedly stole three cases of candy bars.
The unusualness behind this alleged theft has many people questioning the motives of the "Candy Bar Bandits"
"Maybe their motives were altruistic and they wanted to do something good for children tonight for trick-or-treat." says Virginia Meagher, a Dollar General customer.
"If it would have been some poor person needing some candy I’d of bought them some candy." adds Ernest Turner.
However, police do not believe there is a connection between Trick-or Treat events and the crime.
"People's in hard times, people want to see if they can get away with it and some people just do it for the fun of it." says McKnight.
But regardless of why the suspects did it, McKnight says a crime is still a crime and thanks to surveillance video and observant workers at the Dollar General, police obtained the license plate number to the suspects' Blue Cavalier.
"We ran that through NCIC and it gave us an address on the owner of the car." McKnight adds.
Jackson Police say they plan on making arrests in the next couple days but they do not believe the two suspects are connected with any other thefts in the area.
