Rounds of heavy rain will begin to move into the area later tonight, leading to the increased potential for flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire area from now through Thursday and a Winter Storm Warning goes into effect tomorrow. As we head into Wednesday, temperatures will drop and transition our rain to sleet and eventually to snow. Most of the area could see several inches of snow and sleet before it's all said and done. Police are searching for who is responsible for taking copper wiring from communication towers all across Whitley County.
Williamsburg Police say someone has stolen thousands of dollars worth of copper wire from communications towers in recent days.
Officials say the thefts apparently took place between Sunday evening and Tuesday morning and the 911, T-Mobile, and Bluegrass Cellular towers were all struck.
Police estimate the the thieves hit at least seven towers.
They hope to have an estimate of the damage in a few days.
