Police searching for escaped inmate in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia State Police are searching for 29-year-old work-release inmate.

The Charleston Work Release Center said Sunday that John Carter, of Wayne County, failed to report back to the center on Saturday. He was on leave at his father's home.

The Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/KCuj9g ) reports that Carter was charged with two counts of second-degree arson for setting fire to three churches in Wayne County in 2002.

Carter is a 6-foot, 180-pound white male with brown eyes.
