Police warn of scam

(LONDON, KY) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London has received a report of a scam that targets victims through a telephone solicitation claiming to be the Microsoft Corporation selling Anti-Virus protection for computers.

The victim is then given instructions on data to enter that will give the scammer access to their computer. This can allow the scammer to gather personal information such as names, birth dates, social security numbers, bank account information, etc.

The Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London urges the public to verify who they are speaking to in telephone conversations and to never give out personal information.
