Sitting behind his desk at his Frankfort law practice, longtime republican activist Larry Forgy says there's no question former Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer made mistakes, but says the recent audit by State Auditor Adam Edelen was just politically motivated.
"I think he's turned what should have been an embarrassment to Richie into something that when he puts it on tv, looks like Richie's been involved in a burglary," Forgy said.
Forgy says despite the 41 instances of alleged misue of state resources and personnel, Farmer may have wrecked his political career, but done nothing wrong.
"They oughtta either indict Richie or get off his back," Forgy explained.
Although Forgy says democrats are largely behind what he's calling a "witch hunt," he also says Republican James Comer, the current Agriculture Commissioner, needs to remember who his friends are.
"He's on the wrong side! And if he thinks that crowd will remember him--let him stick his head up. They'll conk him with anything they can find," Forgy said.
Forgy continues that Comer is in bed with Frankfort's Democratic machine, all while leading to the end of the republican party's best future candidate.
"Richie was impossible to beat in a state wide election."
Auditor Edelen said in a press conference Monday that he'd passed the findings of his audit to federal and state law enforcement agencies.
