Thursday marked two weeks since Jessie and Angela Jaynes allegedly shot and killed James Cox in their front yard.
Now the motive behind that Knox County shooting is being questioned.
A hearing was held in Knox County on Thursday for Angela and Jessie Jaynes.
Both are charged with murder after the shooting death of James Cox in December.
The couple claims they were just defending themselves when they shot James Cox on their property but investigators say there's more to the story.
“She had found evidence of a relationship, an affair Angela Jaynes had with James Cox through Facebook messages,” said a detective with Kentucky State Police.
The detective said Cox’s fiancé had evidence of an ongoing affair between Angela and Cox.
“She had gone twice to inform Jessie Jaynes of this affair showing him of evidence of the Facebook messages on her phone.”
Cox’s family members claim they also knew of their romantic relationship.
“We have all these text messages from June, July, August, November, December about how much she loved and missed him.”
They say Angela was involved with James up until the day he died.
“I know for a fact the night my brother died that he was with Angela. He was on the phone with her that afternoon,” said Penny Shown, James Cox’s sister.
They believe their brother would not go willingly to the Jaynes' home that night.
“I think Angela and Jessie just needs to let the family get some closure, get some peace and just tell the truth,” said Shown.
In a recent jailhouse interview, Jessie Jaynes told us that he did not even know Cox and said he was sorry this happened.
The couple's bond is still set at 100-thousand dollars each.
The case will now be heard by a Grand Jury.
