Preliminary report released on helicopter crash

The National Transportation Safety Board released its preliminary report on a crash involving a helicopter that made an emergency landing in Letcher County.

Police say the helicopter was surveying power lines in the Isom area of Letcher County when it hit a static line.

The NTSB report states there was nothing wrong with the helicopter before it hit the wire.

The pilot, Tim Kearns, was able to land safely in a parking lot just off Highway 15, but he did have to be taken to the hospital with a minor head injuries.

The other two people on board were not hurt.
