Ad for new EKU president to be posted

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - A search committee has approved wording for an advertisement seeking presidential candidates for Eastern Kentucky University.

The current president, 69-year-old Doug Whitlock, announced his intention in August to retire in 2013. He has worked for the university for 38 years, becoming interim president in 2007 and getting the job full-time in 2008.

The Richmond Register reports the committee tasked with finding candidates for the position approved the ad during a meeting Monday and it will appear it higher education publications.

Consultant James B. Appleberry says the group's goal is to recommend candidates for the position in four months.
