President Obama launching China trade case

WASHINGTON (AP) - Senior administration officials say President Barack Obama will launch a new trade enforcement case against China Monday.

The officials say President Obama's action at the World Trade Organization targets Chinese subsidies for automobiles and automobile parts. Mister Obama will announce the new case during a campaign trip in Ohio, a swing state with a large manufacturing base.

The new action against China comes as Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney accuses the president of being weak on China and ceding American jobs to the rising Asian power.

The officials requested anonymity in order to discuss the trade action ahead of the president.
