President and CEO of First Federal is set to retire

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - A well-known Perry County banker met with friends and customers as part of an appreciation reception.

Tony Whitaker will retire as President and CEO of First Federal in Hazard on January 1st.

Whitaker has been president since 1997, after working for many years as a banker in Richmond and Louisville.

The 67-year old will remain a board member and says he wants to continue to help people in eastern Kentucky as much as he can.

“I just want all my friends and customers to know if they ever need me I am as close as the phone and I'll do anything to help them that I can.,” said Whitaker.

Whitaker will still work one or two days a week at the bank and also continue to serve as Chairman of Kentucky First Federal Bancorp.
