PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Big retailers are not the only ones with Black Friday deals here in the mountains. Several small businesses in Prestonsburg will be opening their doors early for this year's post-Thanksgiving sale.

Daffodils Boutique in Prestonsburg is opening their doors at 10 P.M. Thursday. People who work at the store say they are expecting a big turnout.

"Because Walmart's opening early, they won't have anything to do after they go to Walmart for a couple of hours and then come here, so we think that we'll have a really good crowd," said Kindra Bailey, who works at the store.

Daffodils has partnered with other small businesses in Prestonsburg to promote the sale, and they have spread the word using social media.

"The buzz there's been great, seeing people in an out of the store right now, scoping and seeing, as you can see. Yeah people are really excited about it," said Sheryl Leslie, owner of Lad N' Lassie Children's Boutique.

Shopkeepers we talked to say there are several advantages to shopping locally this year.

"It helps them save money first of all, because they don't have to spend on gas and they don't have to go out of town and get something, then give it to somebody it may not fit, they have to drive all the way back to change it," said Bailey.

With so many chances to shop locally this year, store owners we talked to say they want to be a one-stop shop for Christmas gifts. Nearly every business on Court Street in Prestonsburg is said to be participating in the Pre-Black Friday sale.
