There has been significant progress at the site of a new Perry County elementary school.

The East Perry Elementary School is being built off Highway 80.
It will replace Dennis Wooton Elementary and is scheduled to be open for the 2013-2014 school year.

Superintendent John Paul Amis told the Hazard Herald the project is now expected to be finished well ahead of schedule.
