HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) Proposed legislation would allow homeschooled children in Kentucky to participate in public school extracurricular activities.

Rep. Stan Lee pre-filed the "Tim Tebow Bill" which would allow just that.

The Strickland's homeschool their eight children in their Harlan County home for religious reasons.

They say the state's current law that only allows the students to participate in private school activities are unfair.

Last year, the Stricklands played sports at Harlan County Christian School.

This year, they say the school is not offering any athletic options for their high school-aged children.

"We're just asking that our child has an opportunity to go out for the team," said Alan Strickland, "Either to make it or not. But to have that opportunity."

"It's frustrating because you don't feel like you're giving them that outlet to expand what they can possibly do," said Tedra Strickland.

KHSAA officials say they will evaluate this revised bill.
