Prosecutors looking to preserve evidence in case involving death of deputy

An effort is underway to preserve evidence in the case of a Pike County deputy sheriff killed in a head-on crash.

The Appalachian News Express reports prosecutors asked a judge to order evidence in the David Childers case be protected.

Police charged Childers with murder because they say he was speeding and had drug paraphernalia in his SUV when he hit deputy James Thacker's cruiser back in January.
