DANVILLE, Ky. -- Police have arrested a pastor in a triple murder case. Kenneth Keith, 48, has been charged with the murders of Michael and Angela Hockensmith and Daniel Smith. He is lodged in the Pulaski County Jail.
Michael and Angela Hockensmith and Daniel Smith were killed inside ABC Gold, Games and More on Fourth Street in Danville on the morning of September 20. The Hockensmiths owned the store.
The couple's two young children, a 9-year-old boy and a 14-month-old girl, were with them inside the pawn shop when the murders occurred. Officials say the 9-year-old was the one who called 911.
We're told Keith is the owner of Gold Rush Gold Buyers in Somerset and the pastor of Main Street Baptist Church in Burnside. Police say the investigation was based on tips from the public and evidence.
Danville Police, Kentucky State Police, Somerset Police and agents with the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms working together executed search warrants at the Main Street Baptist Church office, the church parsonage and the shop owned by Keith.
Police have previously said the murders were the result of a robbery. Shortly after the murders, they revealed nothing had been taken from store but cash had been stolen from Smith. A gold buyer, Smith had a regular schedule and ABC Gold, Games and More was one of his stops.
