Quake causes minor damage in Pike County

The 5.8 magnitude quake that hit Virginia was felt in Kentucky. It actually caused damage in Pike County.

Some damage was reported in a few buildings in Pikeville. Some buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

"Things were shaking really hard. Ours fans were shaking. it was crazy. The filing cabinets were shaking back and forth," said Becky Roberts.

Inspectors say the tremors caused cracks inside the stairwells at the Pike County Courthouse and to pillars outside the Hall of Justice.

A structural engineer says that the damage was only cosmetic. The judge executive says all the damaged buildings will be open tomorrow on regular schedule.
