Radcliff man charged in death of infant son

RADCLIFF, Ky. (AP) - Radcliff police have charged a man in the death of his infant son.

The News-Enterprise in Elizabethtown reported 23-year-old Jarrod D. Davis was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a charge of second-degree manslaughter.

Police spokesman Bryce Shumate said the baby boy was found dead in his crib when police responded to a call from a Radcliff apartment Tuesday. Shumate said Davis initially told police he had found the boy - identified as J.D. - dead in the crib.

After the medical examiner found blunt force trauma to the baby's head, Davis told police he had dropped the boy while caring for him and the baby's head struck the side of the crib.

Bond had not been set for Davis Wednesday night and arraignment was scheduled for Thursday in Hardin District Court.
