One local radio station is celebrating a sports milestone.
WSGS in Hazard is broadcasting the KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 for the 65th year, the longest run of any station in Kentucky.
After this week's event, WSGS will have covered 975 consecutive state tournament games.
Don Smith says he couldn't be more proud to be a part of that history.
“We're just honored to be here and it's just a fun atmosphere and I can't believe I'm here I mean this is greatest show on earth and WSGS has been a part of it for 65 years and I'm just very thankful to be part of it,” Smith said.
The first year the station broadcast the tournament was in 1948 when the price of gas was 16 cents a gallon and Harry Truman was president.
