Frankfort, Ky. September 12, 2011 – Statement from Bob Farmer Campaign Manager Matt Wyatt:
“With Bob Farmer’s 20 point lead in the latest poll, this is a desperate attempt from a Tea Party candidate with no new ideas,” said Bob Farmer Campaign Manager Matt Wyatt.
We’re stunned that Mr. Comer has garnered the attention of ANY Democrats with his voting record as a Kentucky State Representative:
2009- Tea Party Legislator of the Year – Davy Crockett Award
In 2008, Mr. Comer voted against an increase in Child Support Enforcement – Passed 77 to 18.
In 2008, Mr. Comer voted against Equal Pay for Women. Passed 81 to 14.
In 2011, Mr. Comer voted against the Drop Out bill to keep kids in school – Passed 91 to 8.
In 2005, Mr. Comer voted against background checks for school district job applicants Passed 65 to 14.
In 2008: Mr. Comer voted against requiring the driver of a motor vehicle to secure a young child in a safety booster seat. Passed 68 -28.
Mr. Comer has voted against women, children and safety. How would these votes translate to the Kentucky Department of Agriculture? Would Mr. Comer abandon strict food safety requirements or show a lack of support for Women in Agriculture?
Bob Farmer supports Women in Agriculture, food safety and a 21st Century approach to Kentucky Agriculture. Bob calls it Ag 2.0. Connecting Family Farmers to Global Markets. Connecting Kentucky to the World. It’s not who’s the best Farmer, it’s who’s best for Farmers.
We’re surprised Mr. Comer has gained the support of ANY Democrats considering the hostile comments made by Comer Campaign State Field Director Mica Sims:
“It’s high time we question the effectiveness of outlawing drugs.”
“Comer has reached out to the Tea Party. He has the support of the Tea Party.”
“David William’s wife belongs in a beauty parlor and nowhere near the Governor’s mansion. The faster Williams puts a leash on her, the better.”
