Redistricting protester arrested in Capitol

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A Lexington man protesting a legislative
redistricting bill signed into law last week has been arrested
after a disturbance in the state Capitol.

State Police Lt. Brian Bowling said 45-year-old Stephen R.
Schwartz was taken into custody outside the Senate chamber on a
charge of menacing.

Kentucky lawmakers have been engaged in a divisive redistricting
battle. Schwartz was among a group of people who came to the
Capitol on Tuesday to protest the shifting of Sen. Kathy Stein's
district some 100 miles into northeastern Kentucky.

Senate Republican Floor Leader Robert Stivers II said a request
has been made for additional security in the wake of the incident.
