More relay for life events were held tonight across the region.
Around three hundred people came to the Rawlings Stinson park in Clay County. The chairperson who has been there for 10 years said her fiance, son and grandfather are all battling cancer now.
"It touched close to home I knew that I had to do something to fight back against cancer and I knew relay for life was a way that I could touch many lives," said Carla Lewis.
Lewis said this year's event raised around $20,000, down from last year's $50,000 in the county.
"I know times are hard and people can give what they can," said Lewis.
Other relays were held tonight in Corbin and Floyd County. Perry County's is June 2.
