Relay for Life kicks off in Hazard

It is Relay for Life season, and thousands of people are gathering in their fight against cancer in eastern Kentucky!

The event in Perry County kicked off Saturday afternoon bringing in hundreds to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Relay for Life helps communities across the globe celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.

"It's evident with the people and the team spirit. They're out here to remember those people and our survivors and help everybody that's associated with a cancer," said Bob Turner, the co-chair of the Perry County Relay for Life event.

The event continues until Sunday morning at six. The event raised more than 83,000 dollars.
