A man who brought national attention to poverty in Appalachia died 20 years ago on November 29th at the age of 68.

Harry Caudill was an author, historian, lawyer, a former state representative, and environmentalist.

After the Letcher County native's first book, "Night Comes to the Cumberlands" in 1962, President Kennedy appointed a commission to investigate conditions in the region and that led to billions in aid.

We have a series Tony Turner did after Caudill died that you can see for the first time since it aired in 1990.
