KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A $1,000 reward is offered for information on a burglary at a Knox County car lot.
Owners say someone broke into Knox Auto Sales in Gray on Highway 25E early Monday morning.
The thieves stole items and vandalized trucks for sale.
Employees say the thieves pushed in the air conditioner unit to get inside the office. Employees discovered it when they got to work on Monday.
"Very surprising. We normally don't have stuff like this," said Kevin Carter.
He says tools worth $500 were stolen.
He says the thieves also went through desk drawers and took several old keys that did not go to anything.
"I think they were here to steal vehicles," said Carter.
The vehicle keys were out of sight from the thieves.
Investigators say it appears once the thieves did not find the keys to the trucks, they broke the windows on the trucks. They also heavily damaged the ignition in one truck. Damage costs add up to more than one thousand dollars.
Carter is now offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to arrests and convictions.
The Knox County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
"We're taking all information because you never know how small something is, could turn into something big, so any type of information we can get, we will investigate," said Deputy Adam Townsley.
"I'd be real grateful if someone would just come forward with some names," said Carter.
Anyone with information should contact the Knox County Sheriff's Department at 606-546-3181.
