Flood is a major concern today across Eastern Kentucky as rivers continue to rise after the heavy rain and snow melt of the last few days. Now as the rain has transitioned to sleet and snow roads will become treacherous and ice covered. Flood Warnings and Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect for most of the day. Governor Steve Beshear and other lawmakers visited Letcher County Central High School Thursday.
They were there for a ribbon cutting ceremony of the Letcher County Area Technology Center.
It took twelve years get funding for the facility secured and then built funding for the nine and a half million dollar building.
Beshear says the nine and a half million dollar project is good investment for the future.
“Our students are going to get the kinds of skills and training they need to compete in this 21st century economy,” Governor Beshear said.
The center will provide eight programs for students many of which can provide college credit.
