Road to Fame winner walking highway to raise awareness for miners

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The winner of this year's Country Music Highway Road to Fame is taking a stroll on the eastern Kentucky highway this week to raise awareness of coal miners.

Logan Hall of Virgie in Pike County will walkone mile in each of the counties along the highway on Wednesday and Thursday. The walk ends at the Eastern Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville where Hall will open for Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Hall will be in Greenup, Boyd, Lawrence, Johnson and Floyd counties on Wednesday and in Letcher and Pike counties on Thursday.

Hall, a former miner, will also be releasing his single, "Treasures from the Ground," with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Coal Mining Our Future, an organization of coal companies in southeastern Kentucky.
