People driving on old Highway 80 can expect delays between Avawam and Combs in Perry County.
Road crews are working to fix a dip in the road where the embankment continues to slip caused by flooding last year.
Construction started yesterday but could not continue today because of the wet conditions.
Delays are expected with only one lane open as crews remove the guard rail and lay new pavement.
"This is a safety issue. Once the repairs are made, traffic should be able to flow through that area. It's kind of in a curve next to the river, and traffic should be able to flow through there without any problems," said H.B. Elkins, with the Department of Highways District 10 in Jackson.
Crews are working to finish the project within the next two weeks.
